A beautiful experience all round.
The food: really excellent. We had starters and shared the entrecôte steak and chips for a main. The steak was really rich and delicious. The chips were out of this world amazing. My only complaint is that it felt odd that the only side dish available was chips. Personally it seemed weird not having any vegetables or salad sides to go with the steak and chips for balance.
The drinks: we had cocktails and wine. All really good as you would expect.
The environment: lovely. We went on a Saturday night and it was warm, cosy, candlelit. Also the background playlist was awesome with acoustic versions of classics, just perfect.
The service: exceptional. Amazing staff who couldn't do enough for us. They were just brilliant - polite and there when we needed but not overly attentive either. They also brought a little sparkler thing out with our coffees because it was our anniversary which was a lovely touch.
We will definitely be going back!

The tasting menu was an amazing meal for the price. The food felt "like home", classically French without the fuss and the service was impeccable and warm.

Visited last Friday for the Steak Frites night with my wife. It's best meal I've had in any restaurant in Cheshire, possibly the best anywhere. You get what you pay for and this was top quality, freshly cooked food. Had the Cauliflower Curried Soup to start. Sirloin and Frites with peppercorn for main (also a lovely bowl of garnish on the side). Creme Brulee for desert. Also 3 courses were perfectly cooked and tasty. The steak was unbelievably tender. The Creme Brulee is now my favourite dessert. It's a beautiful restaurant. Fantastic service. Can't wait to visit again.

We were staying in Goostrey for the weekend and booked this absolutely lovely restaurant for the Saturday evening.
The restaurant itself is beautiful with stunning decor and a welcoming atmosphere.
The food was delicious - I had the tuna to start and the brill for my main - I couldn’t fault it. The service was friendly and the experience exceeded expectations.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.

All good food thanks but lacking something.
Seared tuna as starter was a little bland. Mains was venison that was cooked perfectly.
Limited menu that possibly wouldn't satisfy some.
Generally nice restaurant, polite staff and nice food. Yes we would go back but certainly not rushing there, no wow factor.
Didn't feel good value for money. Maybe Sunday lunch would be a better experience.

Wow. What a great restaurant. Found this place on the Michelin guide app. This place is next level. The food and service were world class. I had soft shell crab for a starter and venison for main. My girlfriend has the steak. She said it was the best steak she has ever had.
This is a small romantic place. Well staffed with great service.
The Sommelier at the restaurant knows a lot of good wine. We had a pairing of white/red with our meal.
Definitely recommend this place for a great meal out.

Went to the steak frites evening. We upgraded to the chateaubriand. Everything about this place is fabulous. The food. The service. The atmosphere. It is ran by a family and that is what you feel. If you are going out to treat someone special. This is one of the best places.

We go to la popete regularly, and really enjoy the food, service and wine. The cooking and presentation is excellent the only slightly negative is they do often have menu substitutions on their Les 4 saisons menu, which can be disappointing as with a limited menu you may not have an easy alternative to select from.

Wow. Best Sunday lunch in a long while. Nothing nearby comes close. Simply superb. Absolute perfection, starter, main and dessert. Excellent wait staff. Cracking atmosphere, nothing rushed. Will definitely try an evening there.

Fabulous French Restaurant. Wonderful food, service and ambience.
Definitely not for the ‘burger brigade’ - if you want this type of food, please just visit your local pub and stop complaining about paying £2 for extra gravy here!
Their 7-Course Tasting Menu is fantastic value for money
for the quality of the dishes. We are never disappointed and this is a lovely restaurant with lots to offer. Definitely recommend.

We went to the Steak frites event last night and wow the food and service was amazing!
We upgraded the stake to the chateaubriand which melted in your mouth! 3 courses £49 pp of this quality extra for the upgraded steak I thought was amazing value!

Best restaurant in the Northwest. Me and the wife lived in France for a long time before moving back to the UK and La Popote fills the gap on the culinary side. Service is professional, attentive yet friendly. The dishes are always on point and beat a lot of the Michelin star restaurants I visited around the world. Always top of my list of restaurants I want to return to.

A Festive Atmosphere, but Culinary Disappointments
I recently dined at La Popote for their Christmas meal, and while the atmosphere was undeniably festive and inviting, the culinary experience left much to be desired.
The restaurant was adorned with enchanting Christmas decorations, creating a warm and celebratory ambiance that set the perfect tone for the holiday season. The staff were attentive and friendly, contributing to the overall positive atmosphere.
However, the disappointment began when our Christmas meals arrived. I opted for the Beef Wellington, expecting a flavorful and indulgent experience. To my surprise, the dish lacked a crucial element – green vegetables. The absence of a side of greens was a noticeable oversight, leaving the plate feeling incomplete and unbalanced.
My wife faced her own culinary letdown as she sought a classic accompaniment for her turkey – cranberry sauce. Unfortunately, the restaurant was unable to provide this seemingly basic condiment, leaving her turkey somewhat dry and lacking the anticipated burst of festive flavor.
While the restaurant did succeed in creating a delightful holiday atmosphere, the subpar execution of the Christmas meals was disheartening, especially considering the premium prices charged.

Our first time here, we came as a couple but met some friends for a Christmas meal.
La Popote offers a delightful experience of French cuisine. The ambiance was charming, with a cozy setting that complements the rich flavours of the dishes. The menu boasts a variety of great tasting dishes which we loved.
The attention to detail in presentation is noteworthy, and the service is impeccable. The front of house staff were both friendly and attentive.
Don't miss their decadent desserts; they added a sweet finale to a fantastic dining experience at La Popote. 5 stars from us and we will definitely be back…

We had the most delightful meal at La Popote and service was superb. Albeit it was a quiet evening for the restaurant nothing no corners were cut and the restaurant even accommodated by serving us Bef Wellington which was being offered on their themed evening the following night. The starters were sublime and main was fulfilled expectations.
Lovely setting and cannot wait to return soon and consider taster menu
